São 8 anos desde que o quarteto se juntou para compor a trilha musical do espetáculo de teatro “Ubu Rei – uma odisséia em bundalelê”, montagem do diretor paraense Paulo Santana para a obra Ubu Rei de Alfred Jarry. O espetáculo acabou, a banda continuou. Sammliz (voz), Ed Guerreiro (guitarra), Ícaro Suzuki (baixo) e Ivan Vanzar (bateria) acumulam experiência, destaque na imprensa e fãs por onde passam. A força do rock pesado e brasileiro da banda os levou à Globo (Altas Horas e Jornal Hoje), MTV, Multishow, Cultura, programas de webtv e apresentações na maioria das capitais brasileiras, fazendo de seus shows um capítulo à parte. Há três anos em São Paulo, o Madame Saatan lança agora seu segundo disco, Peixe Homem.

PEIXE HOMEM
O disco marca um novo capítulo na carreira da banda. O trabalho foi produzido por Paulo Anhaia, nome responsável por álbuns de Charlie Brown Jr, Velhas Virgens, CPM22, entre várias outras, e ganhador de 2 Latin Grammy. A masterização foi feita nos Estados Unidos pelo experiente engenheiro de áudio Alan Douches (Mastodon, Aerosmith, Misfits). As fotos são de Gabriel Wickbold com projeto gráfico da agência paraense Outroplano. O lançamento é do selo Doutromundo Discos.
Peixe Homem tem o patrocínio do Conexão Vivo, através da Lei Semear do Governo do Estado do Pará.

O PRIMEIRO DISCO
Em outubro de 2007, a banda lançou o disco “Madame Saatan” por um pool de selos (Ná Music, Tratore, Fósforo Records, Cubo Discos, Fora do Eixo) coordenado pela produtora Roquenrou Beibe Entretenimento. O disco rendeu resenhas nos principais veículos de música do país e o “Prêmio Dynamite de Música Independente 2008” como “Melhor Álbum de Metal”.

VIDEO CLIPES
No primeiro disco, “Devorados” e “Vela” foram as músicas que ganharam clipe, ambos sob a direção de Priscila Brasil, e atingiram o top dos mais vistos do MTV Overdrive, com Vela assumindo o primeiro lugar. Também tiveram exibição no Multishow, PlayTV e outras emissoras.
Agora, o primeiro clipe é “RESPIRA”, faixa que abre o álbum. A direção é do americano P.R. Brown, diretor responsável por clipes de Slipknot, Smashing Pumpkins, Audioslave, Prince, Hanson, Alicia Keys e tantos outros, com fotografia do seu parceiro Jaron Presant. O vídeo foi rodado em Belém, no Parque dos Igarapés, dentro de um rio, e contou com uma equipe com mais de 20 profissionais.

Madame Saatan – the hard-hitting Amazon metal

The band has emerged from the very core of the Amazon Forest in Belem (Pará-Brazil) and its sounds mix the power of heavy metal alongside Portuguese lyrics and Brazilian influences, such as Amazon sounds. Madame Saatan is already considered one of the most important bands from the underground circuit in Brazil and has performed in well known major festivals around the country, managing to get excellent reviews throughout the media and being spotted as the next big thing in the Brazilian music scene as the critics call it “jungle metal” or “amazon metal”, a mix of heavy metal with a little of the Amazon touch and the rhythmic richness of the sounds from the North region of Brazil deep within the Amazon Forest.

Madame Saatan is a heavy metal band under the influences of classic metal, trash and hardcore. It sounds as Black Sabbath meets Metallica, but far from the cliché, using distorted sounds to follow the singer’s exotic and raw vocal performance. The musicians – Ed Guerreiro (guitar), Ivan Vanzar (drums) and Icaro Suzuki (bass guitar) – bring together several other influences such as: nu, prog metal, jazz and Sammliz, the lead singer, reaches a certain shade of raw tones influenced by blues and MPB singers. Besides sharing the common taste for heavy music, the band members were born in a region where rustic and Indian sounds are usually around with such strength as the Caribbean sounds from the Guianas. With that, Madame Saatan’s music gets a little spicy.

The musicians also flirt with other experiences, like performing at the classic “Teatro da Paz” (Belem, Para, Brazil), where a rock band had never set a foot on before, alongside the Amazon Teenage Violoncellists Orchestra, internationally known by BBC documentaries.

The band is getting attention due to two main facts: high quality music e and an unforgettable stage presence. According to Alex Antunes, from the Rolling Stone Magazine and Folha de São Paulo Journal, the modern metal the band plays is comparable to Sepultura’s early ages from the 80’s. Adriana Alves, from MTV Magazine, described Sammliz as the human version of Derek Riggs’ illustrations, the man who designed many of Iron Maiden’s front covers.

Madame Saatan exceed the usual of their great attributes as musicians to promote a unique and genius crossover between hard rock and Pará’s rustic/popular music, perfectly adding some kind of tribal percussions that even report to the Samba. A special mix that is, all in all, a pretty damn good thing to listen to.
